Most dash cams can be plugged into a 12V socket in a few minutes, but for the ultimate protection and appearance, a professional fitting is necessary. This comes down to two main things: Parking Mode, and visible cables.
Parking Mode keeps the camera recording when the engine is off. It protects your vehicle while it sits in park, and it needs a hardwired connection to your car's fuse box to work. Once installed, you can protect your car, even when not in use.
A professional fitting handles the hardwiring cleanly. If you don’t want wires visible from the plug to the dash cam, an approved installer can contain those cables behind the headlining, down the A-pillar. Out of sight. Out of mind. Your installer will mount the camera at the right angle, run cables out of sight behind the trim, connect the hardwire to the fuse box, activate and test Parking Mode, and walk you through the device before you drive away. That is the standard for an approved Road Angel fit.
A single-camera hardwired install takes most fitters one to two hours. A front and rear setup takes a little longer. If you have not purchased a hardwiring kit yet, our bundles include one alongside the camera.

Every Road Angel dash cam ships with a windscreen mount and a 12V power cable. Installation typically takes under fifteen minutes. If you want to go hardwired without a professional, our hardwiring kit bundles include everything needed for a clean install.

It depends on the installer and the type of fit. A plug-in mount is quick and inexpensive. A full hardwired install with Parking Mode takes more time and will cost more. Use the installer locator to find an approved fitter near you and get a quote directly from them.

Plug-in typically takes fifteen to thirty minutes. A hardwired single camera installation will take one to two hours. Due to the additional complexity, the front and rear dual setup will take a little longer. Your installer will give you a more precise time when you book.
For a plug-in install, no. It is genuinely easy, and your dash cam comes with all the instructions. For hardwiring, it involves connection to your car's fuse box, so we recommend an approved installer for any hardwired fit.
