Please follow the steps below carefully.

Step 1: Download the firmware package and extract (unzip) it.

Step 2: Copy the following three files directly to the root directory of a FAT32-formatted USB memory stick (do not place them inside a folder):

  • apd_8257_AA_6.75inch_SS1
  • update_dj.zip
  • zxdzlogo.png

Step 3: With the stereo powered off (recommended), insert the USB memory stick into the Apple CarPlay / Android Auto USB port on the head unit.

Step 4: Power on the stereo. The firmware update will be detected automatically and installation will begin.

Step 5: Allow the update to complete without removing power or the USB memory stick. Once complete, the unit will automatically restart with the new firmware installed.

Important Information

  • Ensure the vehicle has a stable power supply throughout the update process. We recommend leaving the engine running during the update or using an adequate external power source.
  • Do not remove the USB memory stick or switch off the ignition while the firmware is installing.
  • This firmware is only intended for the Road Angel RA-X722DAB multimedia head unit.
  • Update time is typically 3–5 minutes, after which the unit will automatically reboot.
