The mount overall is….where to start? Nice box, well packed with instructions that you need a microscope to read! But it’s simple enough to fit without instructions or downloading them, the mount screws to the rear of the mirror with four screws, this allows it the mount to flex and vibrate! When the camera was hooked onto the car mirror it was stable, it now vibrates!
Now to the set up/adjustment… It’s a pita to adjust to be able see with it due the limited adjustment available in one plane! I find that just as you get set and tighten up the clamp, due to design and the fact that it uses a flat plate on one end, when you tighten it, it pulls the mount flat and moves it! So you need to angle the main adjustment slot to get the position right then tighten it up so it pulls it tight and holds it in the correct position, this takes several attempts due to not loosening the clamp enough and trying to adjust the position ends up with you pulling the mount off the screen! Even with cleaning the screen with isopropyl wipes doesn’t help! A few times in this heat I’ve got back to the car to find it swinging free on its cables!
Eventually you get it set and sit back in the driving seat to find if needs adjusting and you start all over…my main reason for trying this mount is due to the cars mirror mount blocking the cams view of the road and the fact that my mirror has sensors built in that the camera/mirror covers, and in order to move the camera over far enough to unblock its view means that the straps holding it on slip off the cars mirror and you see more of the pavement as you can angle the lense over far enough, that compliant is mentioned in several reviews of the cam elsewhere…
So that’s about it? Would I recommend it? Well it’s the only other option so your stuck with it! I think a more secure fixing and a solider mounting plate would overcome the vibration issue, a better design of ball mount to give better/more adjustment would help or adding a suction cup mount to the mirror like other companies would be an idea? For me I’m thinking of building my own mount that either sticks to the dash or use a bullet proof mount system mount to secure it too
