Most dash cams are visible. They sit on the windscreen, take up space in your sightline, and can draw attention in a parked car. The Halo Vision 3 takes a different approach. It clips over your existing rear-view mirror and uses the mirror's surface as its display. When the camera is active, the 10-inch anti-glare screen shows a live wide-angle rear view from the rear camera. When the screen is off, you have a mirror.
The front camera records at 4K 2160p using a Sony Starvis image sensor. Sony STARVIS is a back-illuminated CMOS technology that improves light collection in low-illumination conditions. The result is cleaner footage at dusk and in artificial light compared with standard sensors at the same resolution. The rear camera records internally at 1080p Full HD with a 120-degree viewing angle.
The Halo Vision 3 has a true parking mode. When hardwired, the camera enters parking standby after the ignition is off. The G-sensor fires the camera on movement or impact and records the event. If selected, Time-lapse recording runs continuously to conserve storage. The hardwiring kit in this bundle connects to the vehicle's fuse box with a battery voltage cut-off.
The 10-inch touchscreen doubles as a footage review screen. Swipe through clips and adjust camera settings without pulling out a phone. For drivers who deal with incidents on the road, having the footage immediately accessible on the device is practically useful.
