Most dash cams plug into the 12V socket, which means they switch off the moment you turn off the engine. That leaves your car unprotected for the hours it spends parked on the street, in a car park or on your drive, which is exactly when hit-and-runs, scrapes and break-ins happen. A dash cam hardwire kit connects your camera directly to your vehicle's power, so it stays ready to record 24/7.
Hardwiring unlocks your Halo Pro or Halo Pro 2's parking mode. If someone bumps your car or tries to break in while you're away, your dash cam records the evidence, so you're not left out of pocket for damage you didn't cause.
The HWK12VC-OBD has built-in battery protection that cuts power to the dash cam if your battery drops to 11.8V, so you'll never come back to a car that won't start. Electric and hybrid vehicles can operate differently, so please also check your settings in the Road Angel app.
Hardwiring also activates Winter Mode on your dash cam, stopping snow and ice building up in front of the lens while you're parked, so it's ready to record on frosty mornings.
Fit directly to your fuse box with the included fuse taps for the best results and every feature working, or plug into your OBD2 port for a quicker, easier install. Either way, the 4m USB-C cable tucks neatly behind your trim for a clean, factory-style finish, and your 12V socket stays free for charging your phone.
Designed for the Road Angel Halo Pro and Halo Pro 2 only, powering both front and rear cameras. It works in petrol, diesel, electric and hybrid cars, as well as vans and motorhomes. Got a different Halo model? Choose the HWK5VC-OBD 5V kit. Prefer not to fit it yourself? Our nationwide mobile installation service can do it for you.
